TRIVIA

  • This book is Part 3 of 3 of the David Trilogy (#20-22).
  • ANIBASE: The dedication for this book reads "For Jeff Sampson and all of his friends". The "and all his friends" part has a pretty interesting story behind it: K.A. wanted to dedicate this book to all of the Animorphs fans who took the time to create web pages for her book series. Unfortunately, legal issues prevented her from naming actual fan sites so K.A. ended up changing the dedication, but the meaning is still there. If you're on of those amazing kids who made a website for Animorphs (like Jeff Sampson), then this book is dedicated to you!
  • This is not the end of David; he makes another appearance in #48: The Return. His story here in this trilogy, however, has a much bigger impact on the series and on the rest of the group, as he went full on guns-blazing against the Animorphs, breaking every moral code that they stood for in the process. Stealing, kidnapping, killing-- David represented everything bad that could have possibly happened, had the morphing powers been given to the wrong hands.

After David, the Animorphs were unwilling to trust anyone else with their powers again, or bring them into the group, but David rose into a topic of discussion once again near the end of the war, when numbers started counting the most (#50: The Ultimate). It was also through David's discovery of the Escafil Device that which played a significant role in the end of the series, bringing about a most unlikely resolution and group of allies.

NEW PLOT ADDITIONS

ANIBASE: First mentioned in this book was Jake's and Rachel's cousin, Saddler, who was hit by a car while riding his bike. His worried parents, Ellen and George, and siblings, Brooke, Justin, and Forrest, were coming to stay with Jake's family while Saddler was at the hospital. Though seemingly a sad diversion for now, Saddler's plight becomes a bit more dangerous in the final book of the David Trilogy, #22: The Solution.
